Rain pattered the ground as the last chirps of the birdsong died away, barely any creatures stirring. Yet here are two pairs of yellow eyes, seeming to glow under the faint moonlight hiding behind the clouds. There was a sudden snapping noise and a yelp, the grey furred one leapt back, his eyes glittering with fear and his fur standing on end. "D-did you you hear that? You heard that....right?!" He hissed, eyes darting from left to right. "I heard something....what if it was the dog? Please don-!" He was cut off by his conpanions mrrow of laughter "Now, stop babbling on like that Mousepaw, you just stepped on a twig that's all." Shaking his pelt he turned, unsheathing his claws and hooking them on the remains of a broken twig. "See? Nothing to worry about." "Oh...Sorry." He lowered his head, his fur smoothing now. "I thought it was the dog." He sighed, looking away and recalling the events that seemed to happen only a sunrise ago. Blinking, just for a heartbeat, he thought he could see dark gray fur among the trees, but it disappeared just as quickly as it appeared. Mousepaw stopped and looked around, seeing that the other cat had gone on and was just disappearing around a tree further ahead."Mouse dung! can't he wait for three seconds?" he bounded off after him, grumbling to himself.
He caught up to the other cat, hissing quietly and flicking his tail in irritation. He paused on seeing a river just ahead then he bounded forward, but turned as he heared a yowl from his companion "Stop!" The brown furred cat padded over to him, flicking his tail. "You're a big pain in the tail Mousepaw, you know....this isn't the time to be jumping in the river". Mousepaw hissed, his fur beginning to stand on end. And Oakflame should know I'm not a mouse-brain! he thought,as he headed towards the river again, before crouching down his eyes fixed on the bank ahead... and sprang, landing a few pawsteps from the bank. Oakflame landed next to him skidding in the mud, he got to his paws, shaking his pelt. Mousepaw suddenly stood stone still, his ears pricking ,as he saw a shape looming just behind his mentor, green eyes gleaming staring at Mousepaw like he was tasty piece of prey. Hissing, Mousepaw screeched "Oakflame, get back!" His mentor lifted his head but didn't move ,looking at the cat behind him...then he started to purr in amusement."Mousepaw, it's just Crowshine, are you telling me he's scary?" He joked.
Before Mousepaw could reply to his mentor Crowshine spoke up himself, shaking his grey pelt "Exactly,Oakflame, what took you? You're never late." As Mousepaw padded over, he realized that the Riverclan cat looked weary "We've all been waiting" Added Crowshine, his tail swishing the bare ground. "You should get going, Spotwing left already" added an irritated voice, as a sandy golden she-cat stepped into Mousepaws view, with her fur standing on end and a scowl on her face. Oakflame swished his tail, standing up straight. "Then we should catch up,or she'll be back in Windclan camp before we even get there."
As Oakflame set off into the night Crowshine and the other cat glanced at eachother, before padding the same way. Mousepaw jumped up and swiftly followed, trying to process what just happened. As he caught up,he heard the other medicine cats talking to each other, "So" Oakflame started, looking at the Riverclan medicine cat "How's the prey running in Riverclan?" blinking just once as Crowshine answered "Prey is plentiful, to answer that question, especially well for leaf-fall. I have also noticed that Firekit has taken a interest in medicine cat dutys, and I am planning to ask Eaglestar if I could take her as my apprentice. And how is it in Thunderclan,Oakflame?" "Burnbelly is not any better since the gathering, he's been getting worse,in fact, it might be his time to go to Starclan. I'm still shocked he insisted on going to the gathering at all." Oakflame sighed, looking over at the shadowclan cat padding ahead of them "Dustflower?" The golden she-cat glances back, giving him a cold stare, before saying "Like Shrewstar said at the gathering, it's completly well over here." She turned her head away, and Crowshine groaned "She's been getting worse every moon, I dont know what's up with her recently." As they headed though the bushes that surrounded the Moonpool. Mousepaw pushed his way though into the open, peeked around the other cats he saw blue eyes fix on him "About time." said the small brown and white cat, who was sitting in front of the Moonpool "I thought you would never get here."
"Spotwing" Crowshine nodded at the young she-cat, not changing his expression. Mousepaw scrambled forward, quickly sitting down by the Moonpool as Oakflame settled down beside him. After looking at his mentor for a moment he turned and dipped his head down, lightly touching the water with his nose and feeling drowsiness slip over him as he fell asleep. The next thing he knew, he saw forest in front of him. Padding forward slowly, he wasn't sure what he would find here, but this was very different then his last visit to the Moonpool. As he glanced around he froze on the spot, hearing a rustle straight ahead of him. He hissed, looking around "W-whos there?" His ears pricked up as he continued to walk forward, his eyes flicking from side to side and his fur standing on end...and then he stopped still, seeing a faint shape. The shape of a cat.
He stared at it for a moment, and then, in a flash of grey fur, it ran away. Mousepaw jumped, and then started to pursue it "Hey, wait, come back!" He darted between the trees, just manging to keep the cat in his sight. It suddenly took a turn, leading him though the bushes and Mousepaw skidded to a halt, seeing that the cat had gone. "Mouse-dung!" as he looked around the clearing he spotted, further along, a burning branch. He blinked, stepping towards it and then pricked his ears, suddenly hearing a voice. "The branch will burn and the world will crumble beneath you, only until blood has been spilt in the water, peace is the one thing no cat will have."
Mousepaw snapped awake, looking around and standing up.Looking at the others, who where also starting to stir, and realizing that his fur was standing on end he forced it to go flat,so as not to alarm them. But he was worried about his dream, Perhaps Oakflame had the same one he thought, looking over at his mentor who was sitting up with the others.
Mousepaw waited, as the others quickly got to their paws, and joining their tight group set off back towards the Windclan border. There was no conversation now, all where immersed in their own thoughts about what they had dreamed. Mousepaw glanced at his mentor Maybe I should ask him about it....no, I wont, there isn't any point if he doesn't know. He thought, before glancing away into the distance, Perhaps he added I can figure it out myself.
